Vision and Values

We are delighted to share with you the launch of our new school vision and values, developed collaboratively over the past year through consultation with our entire school community – pupils, parents, staff, and governors.

While our school continues to hold firmly to the foundation of our previous mission statement, “Always Learning, Always Caring”, we are proud to build upon it with a refreshed focus that reflects both our aspirations and our commitment to every child. At the heart of this renewed direction is our belief that school should be a place where every child is given not just opportunity, but every encouragement and support to truly reach their potential.

At Fort Hill, we are committed to creating a caring, nurturing, and respectful environment where every child is encouraged and supported to reach their full potential. We believe in fostering a love of learning that extends beyond the classroom and lasts a lifetime.

Our aim is to provide a stimulating and motivating learning experience that prepares children for life in the 21st century. We value curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking, and we want our pupils to leave us not only with strong academic foundations, but also with the confidence, compassion, and resilience to make a positive impact on the world.

To guide us on this journey, we are introducing a new set of core values, encapsulated in the acronym REACH. Everyone in our school should be:

  • Respectful – We expect and encourage respect across our school community – from pupils, staff, and parents alike. Respect underpins everything we do and is essential in building a positive, inclusive environment.
  • Engaged – Engagement is key to meaningful learning. We value pupils who are active in their learning, staff who are passionate about teaching, and parents who are involved and supportive of their children’s educational journey.
  • Achieving – Our goal is for every individual in Fort Hill to succeed. We hold high expectations for academic, social, and personal growth, and we are committed to helping every pupil achieve their best.
  • Caring – A culture of care is central to our school. We care deeply for all members of our school family and strive to ensure everyone feels safe, valued, and supported.
  • Heard – Every voice matters. Whether it’s a concern, suggestion, or new idea, we want you and your children to know that you will be listened to – and heard.

These values are not just aspirational – they will be lived out every day in our classrooms, corridors, and conversations. As such, they form the foundation of our new school moto ...

“Climbing High Together.”

By working together – pupils, parents, staff, and the wider school community – we believe we can create the conditions for every child to thrive ensuring everyone has the opportunity to reach their potential.

Over the coming months, you will see these values embedded in the life of the school and reflected in the way we teach, support, and celebrate our pupils. We ask for your support in embracing these values at home and helping us model them in everything we do.
