The Mayor and Lady Mayoress at the Inaugural Ball at Lisburn Island Centre.

On Friday, the 20th of October P7 walked to Lisburn Civic Centre to meet the Mayor of Lisburn and Castlereagh.

The class had the chance to meet ‘Mr Mayor’, wear the chain of office and ask some interesting questions.

Some enjoyed this

more than others!

The Mayor invited us into his parlour.

This is where he greets and talks to important guests to Lisburn and Castlereagh Council.

This is the original Chain of Office. it is not used anymore as it is so old and fragile.

We were treated to a lovely break of juice, crisps and chocolate bars before we left.

Our class novel is Under The Hawthorn Tree by Marita Conlon-McKenna. Each member of the class became either Eily, Michael or Peggy and wrote from their perspective how they might feel about Baby Bridget dying. These were displayed outside the P7 room along side our O'Driscoll family portraits, headstones and prayers for Baby Bridget, letters to mum and dad and their feelings at being left home alone while mum went to find dad. P7 have found the book captivating and enjoyed working on the different parts of the display
